Your Body's Superpower...

Your Body's Superpower...

Did you know that ancient healing was effective because it treated the most common underlying causes of poor health: toxicity (from inflammatory foods), unhealthy emotions( anger, loneliness, fear, resentment, worry and stress), environmental toxins, and deficiencies, (vitamin deficiencies as well as lack of love, hope and connection). I've included a photo I took in Greece to remind me of Ancient Medicines that emerged around 600 B.C.E. The ancient Greeks embraced the concept of "a healthy mind in a healthy body."

In our world there exist three types of medical treatments. One is Conventional Medicine that treat you with prescriptions, surgery to usually cover up what the symptoms are. Secondly we can look at Integrative Medicine that includes general diet, supplements, exercise and natural therapies and this focus looks at treating the symptoms of what your health problem may be. Finally, we can examine Ancient Medicine that focuses on a personalized diet, essential oils, health treatments for emotions as well holistic treatments, and this type of medicine focuses on actually treating the cause of the disease.

Over time Doctors who practice Ancient Medicine will tell you that as their patients health improves with treatment - their patients begin to see themselves from a different view. They no longer see themselves as sick people because their bodies healed, they feel transformed into a new person; someone who is healthy and instead of being sick all the time, ridden with disease - they view themselves overall a healthy person who occasionally gets sick. With Ancient Medicines, it is not just the body that is healed - it seems it was the patient's view of themselves that healed also.

Unfortunately, Antient Medicine is not just a quick fix and there are no overnight or 48 hour cures that one believes they get from the so called Western world medicinal fixes. Don't get me wrong here - I still believe in Western Medicine and it has saved my life many a time...however, I ask myself over and over - just what was going on in my life when my health spiraled out of control and found me in a hospital bed. Looking at this perspective of health - it is easy to observe that in most cases for health we can see patients were under some form of stress, often due to divorce, ill family members, finances, often trauma from childhood or adulthood, people who eat improperly or have no idea of nutrition or a balanced diet and of course the failure to exercise. Personalized lifestyle habits are changed with Ancient Medicine treatments and thus individual patients are given the regained sense of control over their lives with their changed habits and health improvements.

Hippocrates of Kos was said to have lived from 460–370 B.C.E. He was the founder of the Hippocratic School of Medicine and made major contributions to medicine that persist today. Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician, said, "The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well."

Ancient remedies do indeed assist the body with healing itself. These treatments gently over time, help the body to move toward healing, of course, not overnight - but over time.

Your body is strengthened and healed by a wholesome balance of activity and good rest, excellent nutrition and positive emotions. Remarkably none of these require a drug store or a pill, you can begin to heal yourself by eating a healthy diet, choosing to move and be active as well rest and sleep well, finally moving past trauma, unhealthy thoughts and solidly keeping positive thoughts throughout the day - you can begin to bounce back from almost anything.

Start today by looking into a path for healing yourself as a preventative to issues that could come up with your health from living an unbalanced life. I believe in focus on coping with changing choices of inflammatory foods, environmental toxins and unhealthy emotions can change our lives from illness to health.
